What We Believe

We believe …

1. There is only One God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They have always been and will always be. They are equal in every way.

 2. God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) is the master in control of all things (temporal and spiritual; material and physical) all of the time, from the beginning and for always. To whom all must answer at the Day of Judgement.

 3. The Bible (Holy Scripture) comes to us from God. He controlled the writing of it. It can be trusted. The authority of the Bible is final. It is all we need to tell us how to become Christians and how to live as Christians, both individually and collectively.

 4. Everyone has sinned and is guilty of breaking Gods law and therefore must answer to God whose judgement is just.

 5. Jesus became one of us so that He might take our place and die as a sacrifice for our sins. He made forgiveness possible for those who individually believe and accept what He did, putting their faith in Him. This is the only way of salvation from the never- ending consequences of our sin.

 6. The Holy Spirit is the one who helps those who want to know Jesus Christ; He awakens them to their need of salvation. He guides their response as they receive Jesus as Saviour. Those who become Christians, He indwells and enlightens, guiding them in their understanding and enabling them to ‘live’ the Christian life.

 7. All believers form one universal Church of Jesus Christ, of which the local congregation is representative. All believers are equal, there is no them (the priests) and us (the people). We all have our place and individual responsibilities in the local congregation, and our job is to tell others about Christ.

 8. We should obey the two things the Lord call His disciples to do which are; public witness and collective worship. Public witness should be demonstrated in the baptism of believers by immersion, and collective worship at the regular observance of the Lords supper.

 9. The local church is composed of believers enjoying the fellowship of like-minded people working together. Using their God given gift/s (ability) for everyone’s benefit in the various meetings arranged for worship and prayer, with the study of the Scriptures, playing their personal part in spreading the Good News about the Lord Jesus.

10.We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will come back, visibly and personally, for all that have received Him as Saviour, He will take them to live forever with Himself.

(The official and more detailed statement of faith is available from the Elders; see contacts page)

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continues to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness” Colossians 2:6,7. NIV

Our Mission Statement

Our aims

  • To inform those who live around us the Bibles message of Gods salvation through Jesus Christ.
  • To teach what the Bible says to those who respond.
  • To provide regular Bible teaching for those who are Christians
  • To encourage each other to pray and worship individually and together
With these broad aims in mind we will:

  • Encourage all members of the church to recognise their role as salt and light within the local community, witnessing to Gods love.
  • Arrange visitation to homes in the locality as time permits.
  • Organise suitable activities, which contribute to fulfilling these aims.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit will equip us for this task

What it means to Belong

Membership of the Church universal is through faith in Jesus Christ. The Church is a living body of Christians who love Jesus Christ and live in obedience to His teaching. The Church throughout the world has been commissioned to go and make disciples of all nations. Every local fellowship has a vital part to play in the fulfillment of Christ’s commission.

In order to be an effective local fellowship we believe that individual Christians should make a whole hearted commitment to the life and witness of our church. Therefore we encourage attendees to become members of the fellowship by making promises and commitments to God and their brothers and sisters in Christ.

There are real benefits to membership,. some examples are; an increased sense of belonging, more input into decision making. being part of a co-ordinated team, and a greater opportunity to make a positive difference and contribution to the church. Anybody wishing to become a member of the fellowship will be visited by two of the leadership team who will discuss the responsibilities of the membership and seek to answer any questions regarding the structure and vision of the fellowship.

Then if agreement is found regarding the

BASICS OF BELIEF and WHAT IT MEANS TO BELONG,

a warm welcome into membership will be given.

All members are encouraged to be baptised by immersion as a witness to their repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour. In Obedience to the instructions of Christ to break bread and drink wine in remembrance of Him, we urge all members to meet regularly to remember the Lord in this way.

Responsibilities of church membership

WORSHIP

I will maintain my personal relationship with Jesus Christ and aim to spiritually grow as a Christian, I will worship corporately with my fellow believers. We consider there to be three core occasions each week in church life; the two Sunday services and the mid-week activity. We recommend that each member, when possible should attend more than one of these core occasions each week and should have been present at all three each month.

I will practically support the fellowship by giving financially as the Lord directs.

I will regularly pray for the growth of the fellowship through the conversion of non-believers.

FELLOWSHIP

I will avoid gossiping or undermining other members of the fellowship.

I will actively encourage and care for my brothers and sisters in Christ, not harbouring jealousies or grudges.

I will make all reasonable efforts to live in harmony with my fellow believers.

DISCIPLESHIP

I will submit my life to the authority of the Bible.

I will invest time and energy into gaining a fuller understanding of God through His word.

I will pray for and promote the spiritual growth of others.

SERVICE

I will discover and use my spiritual gifts for the good of the whole fellowship.

I will be actively involved, if able to do so, in the outreach and activities of the fellowship.

I will seek to alleviate practical needs of others in the fellowship
